![]() So let me get this straight then: You go to Config -> Pad 1. Which I can understand since the built-in one works better than most plugins. And you may not want to replay this game for long, but you do, will enjoy it when you do. ePSXe doesn't allow the use of 3rd-part controller plugins. The coins you get are just to buy creatures, levels and items, not major upgrades to your ride. The bad thing is that there's no big reward when beating the game. The levels are fun, with many shortcuts, and you can replay then whenever you want. You'll always be able to throw bombs at others (this is bomberman). It has elements from kart games, such as the prize collectors in tracks, turbo booster and crazy levels. Then, you have to beat the tracks, against random other characters, and earn coins to buy new tracks and new creatures. You choose a bomberman in the beginning, and one of two "creatures" (yes, no cars or karts), dragon (if it is) or bunny. It's somewhat dificult to get used with the controls, but when you do, the game is easily beaten. While not excessively terrible, poor controls and bare-bones gameplay makes Bomberman Fantasy Race a dull boy.Ĥ.Bomberman Fantasy Race is a nice game for people who likes Bomberman, because people who likes normal racing style games, won't find it here. ![]() The “kart racing” genre was so supersaturated even then, so anything less than stellar was just going to be unnecessary.īomberman takes a colorful route to the Black Sun. I just don’t understand why they went with a racing game. ![]() At least it’s an accurate kangaroo riding simulation. Which isn’t a particularly good thing, since I would expect a kangaroo handles pretty unresponsively. This game handles exactly as I would think riding a kangaroo would handle. The graphics are pretty average, which seems to be a theme with Hudson Soft’s offerings during this timeframe. This fantasy is more boring than what a Mormon woman probably thinks about when she rubs one out. There are only about six courses, all of which are pretty generically designed. There really isn’t a story or tournament holding the single-player together, and the only thing that keeps you playing (in theory) is winning money in order to unlock new tracks and new animals. Instead of carts/karts, you race on one of the various animals from the Bomberman mythos. This is exactly what Martin Luther King Jr was talking about. I hear that this game is actually related to the Megami Tensei series and holds some very important plot points.*īomberman Fantasy Race is a shameless Mario Kart clone that, once again, assumes everybody would rather play a game with Bomberman in it instead of a Bomberman game.Ĭause it’s the ‘D’ in Dickbutt that scares me to no end. (EDIT: Now that I've come back to updating this, I've moved to a more simplified system listed above because numerical scoring systems are complete horse shit and we all know it.) All games are scored on an arbitrary 10 point scale using decimals. (Edit:My video card recently blew and I'm currently funemployed so most PC games are ineligible until someone gives me money or a decent gig)ĥ. All games from the sixth generation and before are eligible. I have to make a concerted effort to finish the game no matter what, although sometimes I have to go outside so I reserve the right to ignore this completely.Ĥ. If a game is chosen from a series, I have to play all games from that series.ģ. I used to do this for a now defunct gaming site and followed a number of rules that I now interpret very loosely. ![]() More Mystery Science Theater 3000 and Cliff Notes than a traditional review.Ĭlassic > Amazing > Great > Good > OK > Average > Below Average > Bad > Terrible > Figuratively the Worst > Literally the Worst The MaelstROM The MaelstROM is an oft-updated, always irreverent image heavy, look at classic gaming from my own p̶r̶e̶t̶e̶n̶t̶i̶o̶u̶s̶,̶ ̶p̶s̶e̶u̶d̶o̶-̶h̶i̶p̶s̶t̶e̶r̶,̶ ̶i̶r̶r̶a̶t̶i̶o̶n̶a̶l̶l̶y̶ ̶l̶e̶f̶t̶i̶s̶t̶ well informed and professional perspective.
